What is lifestyle photography?

Lifestyle photography is a big buzz word in the photography community right now.

To me - lifestyle photography means you will never hear the words "say cheese" come out of my mouth. My goal is to capture all the moments of our time together. The laughter, the giggles, the hugs, as well as the pouting,the frowns, the tears. All of these moments are precious and when you look back at your photos years from now, you're not going to be concerned about how your child was sitting up straight, or that his shirt was nicely ironed. What you will see is the wrinkle his nose makes when he laughs or the sweet way his bottom lip quivers when he cries.

Likewise in weddings - in 5 years the things you will really care about are the tear rolling down your father's cheek as he kisses you before you head down the isle together, and the way your husband threw back his head and laughed with joy when he saw you in your wedding dress for the first time.

These are the moments of lifestyle photography.

What should I wear?

First of all, you should be comfortable. Second, I am photographing you, not your clothes. Black or white clothing allows your character and personality to shine in your photographs.

Solid, bold colours on children look wonderful in photographs. You may wish to bring along a change of clothes, especially if you would like some formal or fantasy-style, as well as informal shots.

For maternity portraits, you may wish to dress in something comfortable and unrestricted to avoid making imprints on your skin for any nude photographs.

Using a single colour for group photographs lends a cohesive theme.

Where will you take photographs of us?

Your photography session will take place where you are most comfortable. Your home, a park, your backyard, or if you prefer, my comfortable, relaxed studio.

For portrait photography, I can come to your home and capture the images you are looking for in your own space. This is particularly good for babies. You have probably spent a great deal of time creating a beautiful space for the new addition to your family, and photographing your baby in her nursery will allow you to remember her first precious months. I know new babies sleep (and eat!) a lot, I am happy to work with your family's schedule.

Children may be more comfortable in their own environment or may be more interested in a different space.

My child-friendly studio is stocked with many toys and great natural lighting.

Will you travel?

Yes I will. Travel time to anywhere up to an hour outside Edmonton is free. Travel fees to other locations are subject to mileage.

I will also travel to Fort McMurray for wedding photography. If you live in Fort McMurray and would like family or baby portraits, I can do a combination trip (i.e. a wedding for one client and family portraits for another), or you may wish to find other families who are interested to share the travel costs.

If you are gettting married outside of Canada, I will travel to the location of your choice.
